Indian restaurant Kahani brings the spice to Marina Pier

Adelaide’s new Indian restaurant, Kahani, has opened along Marina Pier with the promise of bringing a world of flavours from all across India to the coast of Adelaide.

“I wanted to establish an Indian cuisine restaurant that introduced the diversity of food in India. With dishes ranging from north to south, east to west of India,” Industry chef turned restaurant owner, Vijay, tells Glam Adelaide.

Kahani (meaning stories) aims to give its patrons, who have a passion for the authenticity of Indian food and culture, an experience that transports them to different states and territories around the country.

While the menu offers dishes from all over India, it also offers insights into the stories behind these dishes. You’ll find out where the dishes come from, who invented them and why they exist as a result of the diverse mix of culture found within the vastness of India.

“We want to entice customers who are interested in the food diversity of India,” Vijay said.

For example, Vijay highlights the simple dish of Chicken Curry, a meal that historically was developed by boatmen aboard a steamer in the 19th century and is renowned for its flavour despite its minimal ingredients.

“What was a simple meal served aboard the steamer, became known as the Goalondo Chicken Curry or Steamer Chicken Curry,” he says.

Apart from the menu options, Kahani also offers a diverse choice of signature cocktails. The Punjabi Krantt, mixed with Vodka, orange and lime juice, topped off with jalapenos, was one Vijay mentioned being the star of the list.

Vijay has plans to display a feature wall that showcases several photo frames that encapsulate the many cultural festivals found within India, that is reflected in the curated menu choices as a true taste of India.

With its extensive food and drink menus that showcase the tastes all across India, Kahani offers its own story of quality cuisine experience, paired with a genuine passion for India’s culture.

As the venue proudly states, Kahani is set to be “a symphony of spices and flavours from the heartland of India to Australia”.
